- Yes, I have seen these halts, and they are as extreme with Couriers as
- they are with Sportsters. And they *are* worse with the 33.6 firmware, a
- lot worse (used to be less than a second, now its sometimes 30-45), even
- when directly connected to each other, so it can't be the lines or the
- "other modem". Fortunately, they are only this bad if you are using v.34
- or v.34+. If you turn off v.8 so it uses v.FC instead, the max connect
- rate will be 28.8, but for the most part it gets rid of the pauses.
- Depending on how new your USR is, this is generally done with either
- S54.7=1 or S32.1=0.
